Open Day boost for ShrewsTRUST

67 new members and profile raised as Trust bring FA Cup to Prostar.

ShrewsTRUST, the Shrewsbury Town Supporters Trust, had a successful day at the STFC Open Day, held at the club’s Prostar Stadium last Sunday (26th July)

The Trust arranged to bring the FA Cup trophy to the event using their links with FA via Supporters Direct, the government backed supporters initiative umbrella group for all Supporters Trusts.

175 photographs were taken of fans with the Trophy, and it’s estimated in total some 300 people posed with the world’s most famous club competition.

As well as fans, club officials, players and staff stood by the ‘silver pot’ including Chairman Mr Wycherley, Manager Paul Simpson, and Captain Graham Coughlin.

The Cup was staged in the Wrekin Suite at the Stadium, with fans filing into the room, and there was brisk business during the day.

Nearly 70 new members were recruited, including over 40 Junior Members who took advantage of ‘Free Membership’ being offered.

Money raised from selling of photographs will be split as per our normal fundraising rules, and the Trust hopes to announce a potential sponsorship deal shortly.

Roger Groves, Trust chairman added

‘It was a very successful day with there seemed to be loads of people about. This will have benefited the Football Club and all Supporters groups.

The 2 events we have done recently, the Nostalgia Night and now the Open Day have both been more extremely successful in raising the profile of the trust’
