16 players confirmed and tickets going well for Nostalgia Night

Shrewsbury – 13^th May 2009

16 players from the 1978/9 and 1958/9 Shrewsbury Town promotion winning squads have confirmed their attendance at the ‘Night of Nostalgia’ jointly organised by shrewsTRUST (the Shrewsbury Town Supporters Trust) and SuperBlues (major fundraisers for Shrewsbury Town).

From the 78/9 team Ian Atkins, Steve Biggins, Carleton Leonard, Jimmy Lindsay, Bob Wardle, Tony Larkin and Ken Mulhearn will be at Prostar on the evening of the 17^th, along with Richie Barker, and supported by Alan Durban and Sammy Irvine who will tell the story of the seasons prior to Championship winning side.

Of the 58/9 team who can through a replayed game due to floodlight failure to win Shrewsbury’s first Football League promotion are, Dave Poutney, Ray Russell, Keith Stephan, Russell Crossley, and Ken Tucker.

Further players are expected to confirm in the lead up to the evening.

The event will by compared by Ryan Jervis, P.A Annoucer at Shrewsbury Town, with BBC Radio Shropshire’s James Bond, and Sky Sports and The Severn Mike Jones taking Question and Answer sessions with the above named players.

BBC Radio Shropshire and the Shropshire Star will also be there to carry out interviews during the evening.

There will also be an Auction of memorabilia including signed photos from the era, a match worn Graham Coughlin shirt (current Shrewsbury Town captain), a raffle and Legends ‘Football Card’.

There will also be the opportunity to purchase merchandise (Commemorative Badges and T-Shirt) and also copies of the match day newspaper from the Shrewsbury Town v Exeter City will be available from the 17^th May 1979 will be available.

Woods Celebration Ale –which is currently on sale in a number of local hostelries will be available to purchase on the night.

Tickets costing £10 which includes a buffet meal, are going fast with 150 already sold.
