ShrewsTRUST announce ‘match day’ base at the Brooklands, Meole Brace

ShrewsTRUST, the Shrewsbury Town Supporters Trust, have announced a tie in that will allow them to use the Brooklands Public House, in Meole Brace as their match day base.

The deal, which also includes using the pub for some of the Trust’s events, also sees the shrewsTRUST contribute to a large LCD TV that has been located in the Function Room of the Brooklands. The Trust will use this room (when not hired out) when Town are at home, to enable supporters to meet up, and for the Trust to be able to ‘show it wears’, and provide information about its activities and that of the governing body ‘Supporters Direct’

Speaking about the announcement, Adrian Plimmer, Trust Media Officer said,

“We have been looking for a base close to the ground that we could use to meet members, current and prospective, but also Town and Football fans in general”

“We see this as the start of providing a Supporters ‘social club’ type atmosphere where fans can meet on a regular basis in good surroundings”

“With the addition of a TV and the pub selling real ales, we see this as an attractive place to spread the word of Supporters Trusts and look forward to watching the Town’

Rob Jones, the landlord of the Brooklands said

“We are please to help shrewsTRUST in anyway we can. As a big Town fan, I appreciate the work that the Trust does”

“The Brooklands is the closest pub to the ground, and we get many supporters visiting before and after the game”

The Trust has ‘tie ins’ with other pubs that organise supporters’ coaches to the Prostar. Trust secretary Lou Phillips commented

“We work with a number of local pubs with regards the shrewsTRUST co-ordinated bus scheme, and will continue to do so. We see this as an expansion of that work and together with local businesses support the Trust, and ultimately the Football Club’
