MINUTES FROM MEETING ON THURSDAY 26TH MARCH 2009
AT 10.30AM AT THE PROSTAR STADIUM
ATTENDED MEETING:-
ROLAND WYCHERLEY CHAIRMAN
KEITH SAYFRITZ VICE CHAIRMAN
ROB BICKERTON MANAGING DIRECTOR
MARCUS BRADDOCK SHREWSTRUST
LOU PHILLIPS SHREWSTRUST
NICK OLEARY SHREWSTRUST
MIKE DAVIS SHREWSTRUST
THE CHAIRMAN OPENED THE MEETING AT 10.30 AM.
FIRST ON THE AGENDA WAS ABOUT CHEWING GUM, BIRD DROPPINGS AND DIRTY SEATS AROUND THE STADIUM.
The Chairman explained that himself and the Managing Director had earlier in the week been around the ground inspecting the stadium which is something that they regularly do and could not see the extent of the problem being expressed, but it was explained that professional cleaners are employed in the stadium and if anyone has a problem with seats in their area, it can be reported to the stewards and then these seats can be especially targeted for cleaning.
UPGRADING THE STADIUM CONCOURSES.
The Trust has come up with some ideas about upgrading the Concourses. There was a suggestion of rendering or painting a strip around the middle of the concourses, then putting a timeline of posters with past players and events all around the Stadium. The Chairman likes the ideas which were discussed but is slightly concerned about Graffiti on any paintwork introduced to the concourses. But the Chairman suggested that if all of the ideas are put into a Business Plan then the Club would be more than happy to look at the Plans put forward.
THE NEW FENCE/GATES
Marcus explained that a lot of fans and Trust members had been upset about their being no notice given with the erection of the new fence placed at the back of the stadium between the West and the North stands. The Chairman explained that these gates were put into place on Strong Police advice. The police explained that they were for the safety of the Home Supporter and would also stop Boy Racers doing circuits around the stadium. The cost of the police to put a cordon where the gates have been put into place was costing the club £1500.00 per match. The chairman explained that the Club does not set out to upset anyone everything that is done is with the intention of making things better for the fans.
AOB
It was mentioned about the lighting and pathways on Oteley Rd and explained that these are the responsibility of the council.
Mike explained that the Shrewstrust is there to help and safeguard the club. They are also there to help raise funds for the club, and he said that they currently had approximately £***** in the Trust fund with 51 paying Trust members. ShrewsTRUST want to raise their profile and to know that the Club are in support of them. It was agreed that an article will now be included in the programme from Shrewstrust.
The fans expectations are now higher with the new Stadium. The early bird ticket offer was the Managing Director’s idea which was agreed by the Chairman to help fans financially through the credit crunch and also the club has actually held the season ticket prices for 4 years now.
It was decided to reintroduce the Umbrella group for every quarter involving all of the supporters groups. But if there are any questions which need answering they should be forwarded on to Rob at rob.bickerton@shrewsburytown.co.uk. This will be set up soon and dates for the meetings will be forwarded to all groups.
The Chairman then called the meeting to a close.
